Trey Miller, DDS
Doctor Trey Miller comes from a middle-class, humble family, where he learned the fundamentals of hard work and integrity. His dad, Bryan, helps run a family owned Grading and Septic Tank business and is a General Contractor. Growing up he helped his father in his business and it’s amazing some of the transferable skills of building a house and building a tooth!
Dr. Trey attended Gardner-Webb University playing Division 1 Baseball as a Catcher. He majored in Biology with a double minor in Chemistry and Psychology. During his time in undergrad, Dr. Trey was drawn towards the medical field. He knew he wanted to help people, but after internships in medicine there was still a missing link. After graduating, Dr. Trey took a different route and fell into the sport of cycling. He quickly excelled and became a professional cyclist and traveled all over the country racing! During that time he also put his Biology degree to good use and worked for Mecklenburg County for 5 years managing the recycling programs for Charlotte Mecklenburg School Systems, including developing a nationally recognized award-winning program. However, the longing for medicine and helping people never left him. Along the way Dr. Trey was inspired by a Dentist, he now calls a friend and colleague, to enter the field of Dental Medicine!
Through hard work and perseverance Dr. Trey left his job and pursued Dentistry by attending West Virginia University School of Dentistry and never looked back. While attending school he received several awards including the International Congress of Oral Implantologist Pre-Doctoral Student Achievement Award and The Southeastern Academy of Prosthodontics Outstanding Excellence in Prosthodontics Award. Upon graduation Trey worked for multiple years in Private practice where he gained valuable skills. During this time, he continued his education in Implantology CE and became the primary surgeon for the General Dentistry Practice where he resided.
Now Dr. Trey, his wife Hannah, and their two children, Max and Sophie are pleased to announce Dr. Trey is bringing his experience and expertise to the City of Harrisburg, NC. He prides himself in giving the community a practice that gives an exceptional dental experience, convenient hours from 7-7 and on weekends, and a high quality of care!
Dr. Courtney Small
Dr. Courtney Small grew up in a large family in the heart of South Charlotte, where her parents and three sisters still reside with their families today. Dr. Small’s parents always had her and her siblings involved in sports—which helped build a foundation of teamwork, hard work, and dedication, which are values she continues to live by.
She attended The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry. She was able to continue her involvement in athletics by playing for the University’s competitive club soccer team. Dr. Small was always interested in medicine and continued to search for a career path that would allow her to help people in need. She was ultimately drawn to dentistry because of its unique combination of artistry and healthcare. Through her experience shadowing dentists, she was able to see firsthand how improving a person’s dental health could also improve their happiness, confidence, and overall systemic health.
Dr. Small went on to attend dental school at the University of Louisville, where she graduated magna cum laude and was a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor society. She continued her education through a General Practice Residency program at Prisma Healthcare in Columbia, South Carolina where she expanded her skills in surgery and implant dentistry, and was awarded “Resident of the Year” upon graduation.
After practicing in North Carolina for a year, Dr. Small moved to Florida to be with her now husband, Shane (who is also a Charlotte native). Working in both private and corporate dentistry, she continued to develop her skills, including cosmetics and Invisalign treatments. Three years later, her son Teddy was born.
The Smalls love to spend time outdoors and frequent the beautiful beaches of sunny South Florida. Shortly after the birth of their son, they decided it was time to move back home to be closer to family. The family is excited to return to the greater Charlotte area where they are eager to continue to grow their careers, spend time with family, and enjoy all that North Carolina has to offer!

Dr. Amy Troxell
Dr. Amy Troxell was born and raised in the Winston-Salem, NC area. She grew up going to Lake Norman with her parents and younger sister on the weekends where she developed a love for being on the water: fishing, kayaking, and water skiing.
Amy attended Campbell University where she majored in Biology and double minored in Chemistry and Honors Interdisciplinary Studies. During the summers throughout her college years, Dr. Troxell shadowed many dentists and came to appreciate how dentistry could help improve patient’s self-confidence and overall well-being. She also had the opportunity to attend a Missions of Mercy Dental Clinic that solidified her desire to help people through dentistry.
Dr. Troxell attended dental school at East Carolina University where she was conferred the “Outstanding Achievement in Periodontics” award upon graduation. After graduation, Dr. Troxell practiced general dentistry in New Bern, NC for three years where she honed her dental skills and developed meaningful relationships with her patients. Amy’s husband, Josh, was accepted into Pfeiffer University’s physician assistant school, so the Troxells returned back to their roots as they moved closer to the Charlotte area where they are excited to spend time at Lake Norman again. Josh and Amy are also thrilled to be closer to their families as they welcomed their first child this summer, a blue-eyed baby boy named Zander. They are excited to continue to explore the area while raising their son and make this area feel like home.
